"Addressing the most critical ethical dilemmas of our time."

War & Terrorism

When it comes to war, there is nothing nice, pretty, happy, or good about it. People lose lives, family, friends, neighbors and homes. The reality of war is that it is just plain brutal and nasty. Millions of people have lost their lives due to war. Some innocent and some militant. However, when it comes to war and terrorism, it is filled with unmoral and unethical events that occur. According to the original definition of terrorism, our own government can be called terrorist because they used fear and intimidation for political gain and the public acceptance of wars. As a result, the definition has been updated to fit the people that the media and our government claim are terrorist. There are groups of people in this world who want to hurt people and are willing to kill to get a point across. There are also groups who are willing to kill for financial gain, power, natural resources and to take over land. Which is ethical and which is unethical?

Overall, war and terrorism itself is unethical. The truth about war is that it can be necessary, though unethical. If a country or group needs to protect or defend themselves, it is necessary to engage in war. People have the right to defend themselves and their people. However, the group or country who usually initiates war, does so for the purpose of gain in finance and power. When war is used to take over helpless countries and bully other nations, it is not necessary and unethical. The only way that the most powerful countries today have become so powerful is because they have carried out unnecessary and unethical wars. So at the end of the day, it all depends on your opinion and how you feel about your country. If you want the most powerful country, are you willing to accept unnecessary and unethical acts of war? If you don't care about living in the most powerful country, are you willing to fight against the most powerful and greedy countries in our world?
